Apparently we’re all on the pulse of fashion here, because we keep writing about it! Ha ha. Or maybe we’re dreaming of what we see ourselves in. The Friday 5 is all about a feeling. How you feel in something you just bought for yourself, how that wallpaper looks in your new room, or how your coffee tastes still piping hot four hours after pouring it. Enjoy this week’s finds, and reach out if you are interested in anything we carry at the studio!
Where am I going? Where am I going… to wear this dress? It’s so me, it’s so fun, and it’s so holiday all wrapped into one. I have one whole closet in my house’s guest room dedicated to dresses I’ve either never worn thinking I will be attending a ball or black tie event, or dresses I’ve worn once. Eek. Maybe I can add this to that closet?
The term “jungalow” originated with Justina Blakeney, and her rug and pillow line for Loloi stays true to that terms with a touch of refinery. We love the vibrant colors, unique patterns, and bold artistry with the entire line. All available from FCD!
Summer might be officially over but now is the time to buy your NEW outdoor furniture! Janus et Cie is modern chic in its truest form. We just met with our rep last week and the new pieces are just amazing. This take on a club chair is so fun and mod. It also comes in several finishes. Remember, your outdoor space should be as look as good as your indoor space (except at my house 😝) The entire line is now available through us!
We’ve been big Yeti fans since the beginning. For a while, we owned everything they sold! Alas, the line has broadened and we just can’t keep up. This mug is awesome because you can keep your coffee hot ALL day, and this baby is stackable! Yes, yes, yes. So few bulky items stack and in my kitchen, with limited cabinet space, it’s essential to make good use of verticals!
Indoor cycling is my passion, so I need pants that perform baby. I swear by two brands, Athleta and Sweaty Betty. Both stand up to multiple wears, sweaty bums, and my humid tri bag. They sculpt, they contain, and they work hard while you’re working hard. Worth the money folks!
This 2019 trend is still coming in strong as we move into the final quarter of the year! Floral fashion has made a beautiful comeback and while I will not be layering spaghetti strapped dresses over white t-shirts again (I did this the first time, a la Angela Chase) I’m so excited about this gorgeous, nature-inspired look. Many of these wallpapers are hand painted and offer a stunning alternative to traditional artwork. Not ready to commit at that level? Try a custom floral pillow! Not sure where to begin? You know who to call – FCD!
$10 - $30
Who doesn’t love a good candle? Before you raise your hand, notice I said a GOOD candle (not your basic grocery store variety!) Adding a beautiful scent to a room is often the final layer in creating a beautiful space. Look no farther than 228 Grant Street Candle Company for the most appetizing treat for your senses. If you are in or around the Baltimore area you may have seen these locally made, handmade, small batch soy candles at your favorite shops. My number one scent is Tobacco + Patchouli which is sweet, not smoky, with a light base of patchouli and trust me it’s not at all what you think. But there are fragrances for everyone – from fruity to floral – so stop by a local retailer to test out the scents yourself!
A wise friend once told me (okay, maybe it was Oprah but isn't she everyone’s “wise friend”?) to invest in the basic pieces of your wardrobe – great jeans, a crisp chambray dress shirt, those Frye boots I raved about last week – and scrimp on the trendier items because you may only get one season’s wear out of them. My favorite place for both trends and vintage-inspired wearables is ModCloth. Download the app for easy browsing and shop worry-free thanks to the flexible return policy. If you’re close enough to visit one of their brick and mortar stores, GO! I had the best experience in Austin with my own personal stylist and free shipping to my home – perfect for SWT (shopping while traveling). The reviews are my favorite thanks to the accompanying photos of real life (non-model) gals in various sizes.
If you are following us on Instagram you know we have a major love affair with geometric designs! Evident in lighting, wallcoverings, furniture and most recently in the stunning tile work at our Maxalea project this is a trend that’s still coming in hot as we move towards 2020. An accent chair is a perfect place to test out a geometric print and add a bit of flare to a room without too much commitment. Although, from my perspective, this is likely a trend worth committing to!
$6.35 (on Amazon, but cheaper in store)
Newsflash: (unless you’ve talked to me for more than three minutes), I love all things food related! Cooking, eating, watching people cooking and eating on television (if you haven’t seen Salt Fat Acid Heat on Netflix and are as passionate about food as I am please stop reading and watch immediately!) As much as I love experimenting with new flavors, there are a few seasoning staples you can always find in my kitchen like Old Bay, Lawry’s, and Goya Adobo. The most recent addition is this delicious blend channeling my favorite bagel flavor. It is super versatile and adds a perfect pop to all sorts of meals (avocado toast) and snacks (cream cheese on celery) and this week I just can’t get enough of it!
$10 a month
While I don’t always use all of the products they send every month (looking at you, unicorn face mask/watermelon peel), they really do send good stuff. You take a quiz about your preferences in terms of which beauty products you like, what colors you prefer, and you can review the products you receive for even better, more accurate personalized products in the future.
I think it’s been a couple of weeks since I posted something from Anthropologie. Truthfully, I could fill up Friday Five blog posts weekly with just Anthropologie picks. This armchair would be great with a pop of color or in a sleek black and white room.
I just got three of these for my parents for their bedroom. I was a little nervous ordering from a site I had never heard of, but I’m glad I did. The fabric feels luxe, and it looks just like a pillow you would otherwise buy for $200+
I could spend hours in Hobby Lobby, just getting lost and exploring all of their sales. This candle is half off, and it smells heavenly. It’s the perfect mix of summery citrus with some grounding rich tones to offset. I also have this candle in two other scents, and they’re also both delicious.
