It’s still hot here in Maryland but the weather is going to get cooler (some day). So, Miri provided our picks for keeping your skin hydrated when it does. Jen is on a purse binge even though she has carried pretty much the same bag every day since we’ve known her. Maureen always comes through with the local Baltimore picks, and when we’re in a pinch for cute books or accessories, we always head to Beckett & Hitch in the Greenspring Station area of Baltimore County. Enjoy the picks for the week!
We all know I follow all things Target. Their fall line has arrived, and bloggers everywhere are writing about and linking to it, so here we are. Wait, are we bloggers? Throws can get pricey, and sometimes we do accessory shopping last minute for a party or photo shoot. Picking up throws like this one that look great and are well-priced can really get us by in a pinch. You might not hang on to them for 15 years like that cashmere or mohair throw but if your kids are using them as dresses during an impromptu stage production in your house as well as for a blanket, this is the price point you’re looking for!
I talk to my sister all the time about where we’d live in the design world if not here. It always goes back to Australia! They are becoming quite a player in furniture making and interior design. These bar stools are very Scandi feeling with a hint of Malibu/Ca chic infused right? These feels like the Australian design trend to me. Very clean but luxe and light. I really love these stools and just about everything else at Douglas and Bec. We CAN get these stools for you, they just have to make a heck of a trip!
Somehow, in our house, we’re always out of chargers. My lovely daughters also like to unplug my iwatch charger from the dock, and I think I’m charging when I’m not! The only place to get a decent charge is on my bedside table but I only have a phone charger there. Oh, the trajedy! This baby might be on my wish list! I have phone, headphones and watch, so having a place to call my own for all plus a teeny tray for my earrings (which I must take out every night around 4:00 a.m. because they’re digging into my ear and waking me up) is just what I need!
Ok, no one enjoyed the comeback of the fanny pack more than me. I lose everything I own, I have left countless sunglasses somewhere, probably the homes of clients (ahem, please return), and if it’s not in my hand, it’s missing. So, especially on installs, it’s nice to have a pack with keys, phone, small screwdriver, and gum or mints. My sister has fought me on this for years, but if you’re reading this lady friend, they ARE everywhere. Every luxury designer has them, every mid level retailer, and even my beloved Target sells them. Interestingly, here in Baltimore I have NEVER seen anyone sporting one but that doesn’t mean I can’t get away with it. With that said, I bought this one. I also bought the dress, because I firmly believe that one cannot work without the other. I may look like a total dork, in fact, I could bet on it but I’m willing to take the risk because the whole thing is speaking to me.
Oh tote bag, why do I want you so? It’s pictured here in white, but I think I’d probably get it in black or one of the two-tone colors. I love a short strap and a big bag, that way I can fit a bunch but not have it swinging around. I feel like I always hold my bag in with my arm anyway, so this is a perfect size. This is another outfit I feel like I should copy but won’t because I am absolutely certain I WOULD be a dork.
There are some purchases I get really excited about – luggage is not one of them. Well, at least it wasn’t until I discovered “Away” brand travel gear. They offer various size suitcases, bags and all the extras in so many colors and even personalization options. This model is designed to fit in the overhead compartment of most major airlines, so it’s perfect if you hate checking bags like I do. With cool features like a built-in battery and TSA-approved combination lock, you will enjoy this durable suitcase for years to come!
Green Spring Station
Who doesn’t love a good greeting card? I certainly do! The cards offered at Becket Hitch at Greenspring Station communicate your message with a hilarious and real spin. While you’re visiting the shop, enjoy all of the fun gifts and seasonal home décor items they offer. Theirs is my favorite kind of store – the perfect place to go when you just don’t know what gift to buy! As always, SHOP LOCAL!
We have utilized these baskets in several projects and we cannot get enough of them! I have a collection of cookbooks that I’ve had for years and love for various reasons. Some were written by chefs I adore and follow; some are local to the Chesapeake Bay area which reminds me of home and one was given to me at my wedding shower 18 years ago and is stained and torn from years of use. In the last few years I’ve deferred to Pinterest and the food bloggers I follow for new recipes and ideas. That is until a friend recommended this book by one of our favorite industry mavens, Joanna Gaines. The recipes are easy to follow and a hit with the whole family (even the picky eaters under 4 feet!). And of course, like everything the Gaines do, the food photography is just beautiful!
This “Bergamot, Reindeer Moss & Cinnamon” scented candle from Pottery Barn is both lovely to look at and smells of all things Fall. Add an earthy touch and a beautiful scent to any room with this beautiful accessory or check out the larger model coming in at 11.5” wide! Make a statement and tickle the senses!
I love the shape of this golden little velvet couch. It embraces you while being super sleek and modern, and the color adds a necessary pop of color.
My second pick is not the wallpaper (although it could be). Look closer - it’s that beautiful invisible light switch by Forbes and Lomax. Check out their Instagram feed for dozens of stunning pictures like this. They also come in brass, lacquered, and more.
I use this moisturizer everyday. It provides dewy coverage while being suuuuuper subtle and evening for the skin tone. It also lasts a super long time and doesn’t sink unflatteringly into the skin.
It’s lime green! It’s Greek key! It’s a throw pillow! Need I say more?
This table will add some interesting structural contrast to the average boxy sofa, and the rose gold/copper makes it even more unique.
